Panos Smyroglou VP of Sales and MarketingEcochlor, Inc., a leading provider of ballast water management systems (BWMS) and environmental maritime solutions, promoted Panos Smyroglou to Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In this role, Mr. Smyroglou will oversee the global sales team, manage major client accounts, and develop strategies to increase revenue growth and profitability while enhancing and supporting customer relations and new acquisitions.

In his prior position as Director of Business Development, Mr. Smyroglou established the Ecochlor office in Athens to better support our existing and new customers in Greece, one of the largest shipping markets in the world, as well as Europe and the Middle East. Additionally, as part of the EcoOne™ regulatory team, he managed and expedited shipboard testing for the IMO and USCG Type Approval of Ecochlor’s filterless BWMS that was launched in April 2021.

Prior to joining Ecochlor, Mr. Smyroglou founded Abacus Marine Consultants, a company focused on ship repairs and equipment. He began his career with class and flag surveys, supervised ship repairs and conversions for three years and then spent over a decade as a commercial manager for one of the oldest marine technical marine consultants, surveyors, valuers, appraisers and arbitrator’s offices in Greece.

Mr. Smyroglou brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the maritime industry. He received a B.Eng. in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering from Glasgow University and an MSc. in Naval Architecture from Southampton University.
