Ecochlor, Inc., a leading provider of ballast water management systems (BWMS) and environmental maritime solutions, promoted Panos Smyroglou to Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In this role, Mr. Smyroglou will oversee the global sales team, manage major client accounts, and develop strategies to increase revenue growth and profitability while enhancing and supporting customer relations and new acquisitions.

Additionally, as part of the EcoOne™ regulatory team, he managed and expedited shipboard testing for the IMO and USCG Type Approval of Ecochlor’s filterless BWMS that was launched in April 2021.
“Mr. Smyroglou has been a key part of our success this year and we are thrilled to promote him to this very important position,” said Andrew Marshall, CEO. “He has a proven track record of international business development and is committed to ensuring our clients receive the extraordinary sales support they require for their vessel’s BWMS.”
Panos Smyroglou stated: “These are exciting times at Ecochlor and I am looking forward to leading our sales efforts through this next phase at Ecochlor. Our filterless EcoOne™ and EcoOne™ Hybrid BWMSs have received both IMO and USCG Type Approval and our very talented sales team is raring to go out and bring them to market. I am extremely thankful for this opportunity to work closely with our clients so that I may create the best experience possible as they navigate their BWMS retrofit and newbuild efforts.”
Prior to joining Ecochlor, Mr. Smyroglou founded Abacus Marine Consultants, a company focused on ship repairs and equipment. He began his career with class and flag surveys, supervised ship repairs and conversions for three years and then spent over a decade as a commercial manager for one of the oldest marine technical marine consultants, surveyors, valuers, appraisers and arbitrator’s offices in Greece.
Mr. Smyroglou brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the maritime industry. He received a B.Eng. in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering from Glasgow University and an MSc. in Naval Architecture from Southampton University.
