Environmental testing was performed at Retlif Testing Laboratories in Ronkonkoma, NY.  “The Retlif team was excited to help Ecochlor reach their goal of being one of the first BWTS to participate in the USCG Type Approval,” commented Scott Poggi, Director of Operations.

Land-based and shipboard testing of the Ecochlor® BWTS on the Golden Bear Facility (GBF) was completed in May of 2016.

“We have been very pleased with our association with Retlif laboratory and the results of the environmental testing for the Ecochlor® BWTS. Our test results for the USCG Type Approval have been consistent with the IMO Type Approval results and I believe that shipowners will be assured of the validity and transparency of the test results that come with independent testing,” said Tom Perlich, Ecochlor founder and president.

About Ecochlor
Ecochlor, Inc. provides shipowners with cost effective, environmentally safe ballast water treatment solutions that comply with all enacted and proposed standards and regulations. The Ecochlor® BWTS uses a two-step process to treat ballast water – filtration followed by disinfection with the well-known biocide, chlorine dioxide. The system’s effectiveness is not impaired by variations in salinity, temperature, turbidity, organics, and vibration, which can impact other treatment options. Furthermore, the small size, low power, and low maintenance characteristics of the Ecochlor system make it ideally suited for installation on the world’s largest ships.
